Transgender Series Begins at Ex-Gay Watch
Autumn Sandeen, a new contributor at Ex-Gay Watch who is trans, began a series on gender in the ex-gay movement. Her post today is a useful Transgender / Ex-Transgender Glossary.I have a fairly new line about trans folks that I scripted for my Homo No Mo play.
Chad, an ex-gay bio male participant in the program talks about the two houses where participants are housed. Men are in the Caleb House and "girls" in the Hannah House. He then adds,
"There is one other house. That's where they house, um, Terry. (pause) Yeah they are not quite sure yet which house to put Terry in. They're not really equipped to deal with trans issues here in the Homo No Mo Halfway House, which according to Terry is actually very similar to the gay community itself. (pause) So for now Terry has Terry's own house."Also, Marvin Bloom made a surprise appearance last night in my presentation of Doin' Time in the Homo No Mo Halfway House here in Palm Springs. He spoke about how he once cast demons out of his computer in Jesus' name.
Of course Marvin himself has tried to wrap his ex-gay Jew for Jesus mind around trans issues here.

Oh poor Terry ... well he/she is always welcome in my house ;)
I liked Terry, to put hir in hir own house was so typical way of handle transpeople.
I stole Terry and wrote a short story but not only was it in Swedish, it also was lost in a recent hard drive crash... Maybe it was some demons wrecking it.
Terry is really a Swedish transqueer person named Terge but no american gets the pronunciation right so you just said Terry. It was mostly inner monologues from Terge lying in bed at LiA, trying to go to sleep.
alex!
It is indeed typical, maybe typically swedish? Trying to put a lable on everything, the good old "jantelagen" (how the heck do you translate that).
Now I remember that it was Terje and not Terge (same pronunciation, no luck for you over there)
The jantelag is weird. It controls me so much. I would never say the same things in swedish that I have no problems saying in english 'cus the jantelag is in total control of the swedish speaking part of me :)
For you non-scandinavian readers. The jantelag/Jantes law is a concept the danish author Aksel Sandemose created about the social codes in scandinavia.
The ten rules of Jantes law:
You shall not think that you are special.
You shall not think that you are of the same standing as us.
You shall not think that you are smarter than us.
Don't fancy yourself as being better than us.
You shall not think that you know more than us.
You shall not think that you are more important than us.
You shall not think that you are good at anything.
You shall not laugh at us.
You shall not think that anyone cares about you.
You shall not think that you can teach us anything.
Nobody is never allowed to play solo, not even if he does it well.
the last line "Nobody is never allowed to play solo, not even if he does it well." was written by me, not Aksel. I tried to press preview but published it to soon.
Not a acceptable thing to do for a swede.
*LoL* and I am beginning to think that the point of life is to break all the rules of jantes law a.s.a.p ;) Consider that to be my life project.
wait, alex, you wrote a story about Terry (Terge). I totally want to hear it. We must Sykpe and talk about this.
It is sorta like Homo No Mo fan fiction. Crazy wonderful.
alex, you would have been proud of Marvin last night.
So this Aksel Sandemose, he was a fundamentalist Christian or a gay man? Cause I have heard the same proclamations from both. :=)
Wait no playing solo! I'd be out of work.
ok...i almost cussed out loud! Like I said, I SO wanted to be there...can't tell you how much more disappointed I am hearing that Marvin was there as well. ;-)
